Deciding who will be in on the surprise
When preparing for your gender reveal party, you will first need to determine who is going to be in on it! There is a range of options available, and it really comes down to personal preference. So, with that being said, let’s take a look at the options:
- The expectant parents – if you and your partner want to find out the gender of your baby to surprise friends and family later down the line, you could ask the ultrasound scanner/sonographer to tell you the gender at your early gender scan.
- The ultrasound scanner/sonographer – want the gender reveal to be a complete surprise for all involved? Simply ask your ultrasound scanner/sonographer to write down the gender of your baby and place it in a sealed envelope to be revealed at a later date.
- Friend or family – some couples prefer to have the big news broken to them by a trusted friend or family member. In these cases, you could have the nominated person with you for your gender scan, allowing them to look at the point you turn away from the screen. Or, you could simply hand them the sealed gender envelope to keep until the gender reveal party!
Breaking the big news!
Once you have decided who will keep hold of your big secret, the next thing is to choose how you’re going to break the news on the day! Depending on what you go for will determine how much planning is necessary, so it’s a good idea to think about this early on.
